Yueyou Packaging Team Building: A Trip to Lu Xun's Former Residence to Strengthen Team Bonding
SHAOXING, ZHEJIANG — August 22, 2025 — Wenzhou Yueyou Craft Co., Ltd., a leading packaging and craft enterprise based in Wenzhou, organized its annual team-building excursion for over 30 employees to the Lu Xun Native Place in Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province, on August 18. The one-day cultural journey blended team bonding with immersive exploration of China’s literary heritage, aligning with the company’s tradition of combining recreational activities with educational experiences.
Nestled in the heart of Shaoxing—a historic water town renowned for its cultural legacy—Lu Xun Native Place is the birthplace and childhood home of Lu Xun (1881–1936), modern China’s iconic writer, thinker, and revolutionary. As a 5A national scenic area and a key patriotism education base, the site preserves landmarks featured in Lu Xun’s works, including his former residence, Baicao Garden (the “paradise” of his childhood), and Sanwei Study (his old private school).
The Yueyou Craft team began the day with a group photo in front of the scenic area’s iconic stone wall, emblazoned with “Lu Xun Native Place” and a portrait of the literary giant. Clad in matching blue uniforms, employees posed with a banner reading “Take the Wildest Photos, Enjoy the Happiest Team Building”—a lighthearted nod to the trip’s dual focus on fun and connection.
Guided by a local historian, the team explored the well-preserved Qing Dynasty architecture of Lu Xun’s ancestral home, where wooden courtyards and antique furniture offered a glimpse into late 19th-century scholar-gentry life. At Sanwei Study, employees gathered around the desk where Lu Xun carved the character “zao” (meaning “early”) to remind himself to be punctual—a detail that sparked discussions about discipline and dedication in the workplace.
“Walking through Baicao Garden, I could almost picture the young Lu Xun chasing crickets and picking raspberries, just like he wrote in From Baicao Garden to Sanwei Study,” said Qian Haiyan, CEO of Wenzhou Yueyou Craft. “This trip isn’t just about relaxing—it’s about letting our team draw inspiration from a figure who valued curiosity, integrity, and collective progress. These are the same values we strive for at Yueyou Craft.”
Despite light rain, the group navigated the scenic area’s stone paths with umbrellas, stopping to sample local Shaoxing specialties like stinky tofu and yellow rice wine during breaks. Interactive activities, such as a “literary trivia challenge” based on Lu Xun’s works, fostered collaboration among colleagues from different departments—from design to production.
For Yueyou Craft, annual team-building trips are a cornerstone of its corporate culture. Since 2018, the company has organized excursions to cultural and natural sites across Zhejiang, aiming to strengthen team cohesion while enriching employees’ personal and professional growth. “When we step out of the office, we see each other not just as coworkers, but as friends,” noted Zhang Wei, a senior designer. “This trip made us feel more connected—and more motivated to work together.”
Lu Xun Native Place, which welcomes over 2 million visitors annually, provided a fitting backdrop for the excursion. As a site that merges literary history with the charm of southern China’s water towns, it offered both relaxation and reflection for the Yueyou Craft team.
